Avant-Garde 2024 Award
The two companies and partners for many years decided to work together to bring the winner project to life, through phases coordinated by ICMA.
Scraps produced by Cartotecnica Moderna during its manufacturing process are salvaged to create 100% recycled paper, which is then finished according to the requests of Moderna and used to create coated boxes and shopping bags, which are in turn recyclable.
The production chain is carried out entirely in Italy and the manufactured paper is unique both in terms of its aesthetic and (measurable) environmental impact.
ICMA coordinates the whole process, from the collection of waste to the production and finishing of recycled paper for the same customer.
The waste paper is not deinked or bleached, precisely to ensure the operation is consistent in terms of sustainability. Another interesting aspect is that ICMA can provide the customer with an environmental impact assessment for the paper produced.
Today, all outgoing paper from ICMA is traced in accordance with the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) method, “from cradle to gate”, that is, from the tree (or from the waste for recycled papers), to the point of exit through ICMA’s gates.
For each paper, including those manufactured through the Rinascimento service, ICMA can measure the CO2-equivalent emissions and, with her customers, set up action plans for their reduction, meeting the requirements of all brands concerned with their environmental impact.
